Get to know Sh. Mohammad Idrissi
Shaykh Mohammad Idrissi is the author of the handbook ‘Al Qurtubia’ and the founder of Al Andalusia Education project. Originally born in Cordoba but he had then gone on to spend most of his years in Seville, where he is also currently residing. He is a graduate of Arabic and Islamic Sciences, from the Islamic University of Dewsbury, UK. Since graduating he placed all his efforts in starting up and building upon a project to revive the knowledge that once thrived through Al-Andalus and by acknowledging its rich history he hopes to re-ignite the passion for studying the beautiful deen within his motherland.
Shaykh Mohammad has dedicated ten years to his full time study of Islamic knowledge and continues to grow in learning due to understanding its importance. Two from the ten years of his studies were based in Morocco where he learned to write and read Arabic and also learned to speak Darija (Moroccan Arabic) and for the remaining eight years he resided in Dewsbury, England, where he completed the programme that consisted of learning Arabic literature, Fiqh, Tafseer and Hadith and he completed his time in Dewsbury with the study of the Sihah Sittah (the six books of Hadeeth) namely Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi, Nasai & Ibn Majah, Alhamdulillah.
And now as a result of his present experiences and that which has stood out to him from the lessons at the Al-Andalusia Islamic Centre, Shaykh Mohammad has designed Al Qurtubia. It is to provide a method to aid the learning of reading the Quran catering to the special needs of his students, that which has been mentioned at the beginning of this website under the section of the factors taken into consideration for ‘Al Qurtubia’.
